About the author
Johana loves to tell stories. And she’ll tell you that. She blends photography, writing, and visual design into every experience she offers. The goal is something that feels lived-in and sincere. Her approach is intuitive, emotionally attuned, and deeply human.
“Joh,” as her friends call her, works across disciplines: film and digital photography, writing, and hospitality. Whether she’s behind the lens, sketching a brand identity, or hosting a dinner party, her goal is always the same — to honor small stories and simple acts, with great love.
Photography has been her favorite art form since she was 10 — that’ll be 14 years this December. She’s been working professionally in the photography world for nearly five years, and somehow, she loves it more every day. Her 10-year-old self would never believe she’d grow up to become a full-time photographer. And most days she still can’t believe this is her life.
You didn’t ask, but if you did, she’d tell you all about her time at Bama — living in that quirky little apartment called Audubon, and the walks she took to class. She’d talk about the vibrant autumns she still loves, and how spring always brings a fresh sense of life. She’d share her favorite places to eat around town, and maybe laugh about that one time she met and photographed Glen Powell — without even realizing who he was.
She’d tell you about her mom, how special she is, and how she wouldn’t be a photographer if her mother hadn’t given her a camera at age ten. She’d ask about your story, listen with genuine curiosity, and maybe get a little emotional hearing how you met your significant other. That’s when she’d start begging to photograph your wedding day.
Johana works primarily with 35mm film, Polaroid film, and digital mediums. She favors spontaneity and texture. Her favorite kind of work feels like a conversation — quiet, thoughtful, and open-ended. She gravitates toward projects rooted in intention and warmth: where the goal is not just to be seen, but to be felt. Her style leans nostalgic, candid, and fun. She likes to think of her work more like floral arrangements. You don’t just document moments — you collect and build them together, like flowers in a bouquet.
Something sweet. Something sincere.
When she’s not shooting or traveling, Johana is probably tending to her houseplants, journaling about her day, or enjoying her role as the oldest sister at home — her favorite thing to do.
